It was 82 F here in northern Michigan this afternoon, and this summer, that was news indeed! Dave and I went for one of our customary rambles along a woodland trail and encountered these curiously red capped mushrooms (toadstools?). These were all different specimens clustered in the same area along the trail and measured about 2.5 inches across the cap.
This is neither knapweed nor bee balm, so I don’t know what it is except quite lovely !
How gray can a mushroom get?
