Progress on the “Out of Africa” One Block Wonder

I sewed together all the half-hexagon columns:

Close-up of the large gray hexagon medallion in the upper right quadrant:

The top is about 81 inches by 90 inches, so far. That’s a lot of half-hexagons to pin match!

Next up, borders!

    Very beautiful!

Coincidentally, Deb and I were recently in Africa – we spent 3-1/2 weeks in Botswana this past October, where we were house sitting a property adjacent to a large wooded lot. The lot had trees bearing a fruit that attracts baboons, and a fairly large family of them turned up each morning and afternoon to keep us entertained. Fortunately, they stayed on the outside of the property wall.

As we were leaving Africa, we found ourselves with an unexpected overnight in Johannesburg thanks to a flight cancellation. There we purchased a very special quilt – I will email a photo and backstory to Dave.

    Hope you’re both doing well!

So good to hear from you. A trip to Africa sounds like quite the adventure to me! Cannot wait to see a picture of the quilt you bought there.
