Today we drove 45 minutes from our home to stalk the wild morel at one of our favorite hunting grounds. We saw lots of interesting things.
The trillium along the roadside are a sure sign you have your timing right. These we saw in profusion.
Yes, those are more trillium in the distance. They do go on and on.
Various “tree ears”.
Remnants of Indian Pipes from last fall.
Various wild flowers.
Including pink trillium.
Interesting textures of decaying trees.
Unusually large birch trees.
Even a spent robin’s egg.
But no morels.
Until we returned home to find these great guys along the driveway near our house! And, yes, they were delicious.
