Christmas Wonder

Earlier in the year, I blogged about making a One Block Wonder quilt. These quilts are based on a technique described in the book, One Block Wonder Encore by Joy Pelzmann and Maxine Rosenthal. I had the pleasure of taking a workshop with Maxine in Fort Wayne, IN, in early October 2009. Anyway, here is my Christmas version using three colorways of the same fabric from Westminster called “Poinsettia & Holly Mix.”

In this technique the individual hexagonal blocks are each unique and kaleidiscope to form pleasing symmetrical patterns:

I used the white colorway for the star:

The borders are a green color gradient fabric by Carol Bryer-Fallert:

The quilting is continuous curve within the blocks and feathers in the borders.
