May AQS BOM 2014

The letters for this month were “K”, “L” and “M”. I started by making the “K” block which is a nine patch of square-in-a-square patches traditionally called a “Kansas Star” block. I followed the instructions, but he block turned out a little wonky: points not matching, curved edges, not the right finished size, etc.:

By using Jodi Burrows “Square-in-a-Square” tool, I was able to do better, so this is the one I used in the finished panel:

The other two blocks seemed like a piece of cake, the Log Cabin block …

… and the “Mayflower” block:


Here are all the blocks sewn together in the panel for May:

I added few extra stars in the “K” area to balance out my misplacement of the appliqued letter, but that is okay, because they are so cute!:
